Following Jesus – A 28 Day Guide
Did you know that Jesus never asked people to be “Christians”? He asked them to follow him.
The word “christian” is a term that the people in the city of Antioch came up with to describe the followers of Jesus. The word christian in the bible means, “Christ like or little Christ”. The early followers of Jesus did not become “christians” and then become like Christ. They followed Jesus and that decision caused the image of Christ to be formed in them.
When we follow Jesus we become like him. Following Him means we make a decision to learn about him and live like him. We take time to learn about his birth, his life, his teachings, his death, and his commands to us as his followers.
The first four books in the New Testament are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are called the gospels. These four books focus on the birth, life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Reading the gospels and studying them help us learn about following and becoming like Jesus.
This booklet will help you begin to learn about following Jesus. It will guide you through the life of Jesus by providing daily selected readings from the gospels. In addition to reading the verses listed daily we encourage you to begin to journal about what you have read and learned about Jesus. Also, take time to write down questions you may have. You can email those questions to hello@bridgecapecoral.com.
Praying God’s best for your life and that who Jesus is will be revealed to you as you follow Him.
